UG v. TC v. MTOC–by Bastian, Lipski, and Dank–pg 48(of 60), also: “CONTINUITY GUY out tomorrow!” and “Irving Spiderman”

The UPTOWN GIRL vs TOMMY CHICAGO vs MANLY TALES OF COWARDICE crossover from 2008 was written by BRIAN BASTIAN, pencilled (and inked) by BOB LIPSKI, and inked (and pencilled) by me.   Brian and Bob are here to join me for some reflections on this project:

BASTIAN:  This was the point where I was really glad we were able to use the Beanmen. Otherwise I probably would have had to give Tommy Chicago a gun. And that would never happen.

LIPSKI:  Probably one of the funniest things Brian ever wrote.  It’s also the first time we really see any cooperation between these two characters.

DANK:  I really dig the last two panels of this page, both for the fact I didn’t blow the dino inking again, and for the great Beanmen gag.

ALSO:  Lets makes this shampoo simple: The CONTINUITY GUY graphic novella comes out this friday.  Come buy one.

FINALLY:  It kind of astounds me sometimes what characters HAVEN’T been done for the Daily Goal Sketch.  Basically my client has given four pages worth of names and we go one by one each day.  But they were written down randomly as they came to his mind, so the “top” characters you might think of when thinking of superheroes might not even be jotted down until the middle of page 4.  So basically, it’s a crapshoot.  Thats how I ended up doing 2 versions of the Red Skull long before ever getting to a staple like SPIDER-MAN:
