UG v. TC v. MTOC–by Bastian, Lipski, and Dank–pg 25(of 60), also: “Terror thy name is midget”

The UPTOWN GIRL vs TOMMY CHICAGO vs MANLY TALES OF COWARDICE crossover from 2008 was written by BRIAN BASTIAN, pencilled (and inked) by BOB LIPSKI, and inked (and pencilled) by me.   Brian and Bob are here to join me for some reflections on this project:

BASTIAN:  Here we have to last two groupings.  The sidekicks and our main characters.  Atlantis Lad, Jimmy and Rocketman make perfect sense, just like the girls on the last page.  They’re all similar type characters, but Uptown Girl doesn’t fit at all with Fleming and Tommy Chicago, but at the same time she was the only character strong enough to not be swallow up by those two.  And y’know they’re the main characters, so they’d have to end up together.

LIPSKI:  And then the “sidekicks” split up into their own team.  It’s disturbing to think that Rocketman is probably the smartest of the three here.  Finally, the main characters from each of our books get teamed up.  It’s really funny how similar Tommy Chicago and Fleming Hazmat are to each other.  Under different circumstances they’d probably be friends.  Or drinking buddies at least.  Having even- keeled Uptown Girl work with them was a lot of fun to work on.  She puts up with them better than most people would though, I can’t imagine getting anything accomplished with them.

DANK:  I don’t think Brian knows that M*A*S*H is one of my favorite shows, but I’m forever grateful he had the words “HOT LIPS” come out of Flemings mouth…err…moustache.

ALSO:  If you’ve never seen this, you really should.  Or shouldn’t.  Whatever.  The MOLEMAN is pretty funny in it.  :
