UG v. TC v. MTOC–by Bastian, Lipski, and Dank–pg 24(of 60), also:”MIX: confirmed!” and “Latvaria is pretty this time of year”

The UPTOWN GIRL vs TOMMY CHICAGO vs MANLY TALES OF COWARDICE crossover from 2008 was written by BRIAN BASTIAN, pencilled (and inked) by BOB LIPSKI, and inked (and pencilled) by me.   Brian and Bob are here to join me for some reflections on this project:

BASTIAN: Where a normal comic would end, ours finally begins.  The pairing up of of the teams was a lot of fun for me.  Betsy and Stella generally fill the same roles in their respective books, the voice of reason.  Ruby doesn’t exactly do that in Uptown Girl, but she is the least inclined to adventure of her crew.  So I just figured the 3 of them would get along great.  And they did.  The end.  Oh wait, we’ve got 36 pages left, sorry.

LIPSKI:  Here all the characters get divided up.  It’s funny how it worked out that all three of us each had a comic with three main characters in it.  The girls are make a good team but they are all pretty even-tempered so there’s not much tension here.

DANK:  THE SIMPSONS are burned into our souls.  Not just Brian, Bob, and mine, but EVERYBODYS!!!  So basically we’ve all created books starring  Bart, Lisa, and Maggie.  We didn’t mean to.  It just happened.

ALSO:  I’m signed up for MIX–the Minneapolis Indy eXpo–on AUGUST 21st.  Are you?!  If not, get a darn cheap table today!

FINALLY:  I’ve never really cared for DR DOOM.  I think this Daily Goal Sketch personifies that general disregard:
