PLUNGER-MAN–by Ryan Dow and myself–pg 3(of 11), also: I-CON and TMBG

pg 3

This story is written, pencilled and greytoned by RYAN DOW, and inked and lettered by myself.  It first appeared in MUSCLES AND FRIGHTS.   And now some thoughts on todays page…

RYAN DOW:  I’m really happy with how creepy this page turned out.

DANNO KLONOWSKI:  Yeah, the girl hugging/stroking the tentacle is just…disturbing.

RD:  My original pencils of the tentacles didn’t have any of the texture or suction cups that you see here.  That was all Danno.

DK:  What can I say?  I didn’t want people think she was hugging a giant dook.

RD:  Danno also came up with the transfer of power bit because you shouldn’t have a gun in the second act without showing it the first.

DK:  Ummm…spoiler alert?

Also: RYAN, DANIEL J OLSON, KEVIN CANNON and myself will be in ALTOONA, IOWA this Saturday (Nov. 7th) for the I-CON comic book convention (it runs 9am to 5pm).

And this has nothing to do with comics, but I saw THEY MIGHT BE GIANTS play last night.  It was their “FLOOD” show, where they played the (20 year old!!!) album “FLOOD” in it’s entirety, though out of order with a few other songs threw in as well.  As John F said about playing it beginning to end as:is–“Rock under glass is boring.”  Seeing them for the 4th time in 15 years made me realize they don’t inspire the euphoric glee they used to, but damn if they aren’t still wonderful performers.  Also, its pretty great music to draw comics to (so there, this does have something to do with comics). Glad I could spend some more time on earth with THEY.

*** BTW: just cause you’re getting the PLUNGER-MAN milk for free, you should still totally buy the MUSCLES AND FRIGHTS cow.  It’s full of a ton of great stuff from some wonderful creators.  But…you don’t have to take my word for it.
