BRIAN BASTIAN—  Believes in a writing philosophy that states:  “Too many cooks spoil the broth.”  This is why he always works alone and never in the kitchen.

LUPI MCGINTY—  I met LUPI about a year and a half ago when she made her presence known to both the ALTERED ESTHETICS  gallery and the INTERNATIONAL CARTOONIST CONSPIRACY (Locals #612/#651) by contributing to the LUTEFISK SUSHI “C”show and box set.  Lupi continues to be an active Conspirator, even taking a chair on the “QUORUM OF TWELVE(or so)” who are organizing LUTEFISK SUSHI “D”.  Lupi does some cool comics you can see on her blog (like ANTI-GIRL),  concert posters, and is also a part of the art team for FALSE WITNESS: THE MICHELE BACHMANN STORYcomic series (issue #2 out soon!).  I would even say Lupi’s art is the best known “face” of the FALSE WITNESS series, considering it’s been seen by thousands not ONCE, but TWICE(!)in the CITY PAGES.  So basically, if Bachmann loses in 2010 Lupi’s days are numbered.  Sorry about that, Loops.  You’re a great talent and will be dearly missed.

Also: BUD BURGY and “CONTINUITY GUY” educates us all on the Blinovich Limitation Effect.  Enjoy!

Little known factoid. I found out about Sushi C because I randomly went to AE to unwind after a bad afternoon. I’d never been there before. When I went in, I was surprised to see that the gallery was full of ninja cats drawn on Canson board. So after that I looked at the open calls online to see if there were any more comic art thingies coming up.

Do most of the Sushi submitters get their stuff printed up at Kinko’s or are there other places that do it decently as well?

I’ve done most of my mini’s through Kinko’s in the past. I’m trying out an online print company, http://thecolorcopystore.com, for my next mini-reprint as the cost per book will be much, much cheaper. Not sure what the paper quality will be like, though.

I like going to the UPS Store because their self-serve copiers always seem blacker and cleaner than Kinko’s, and they’ll occasionally have 3-cent copy sales.
