MANLY TALES OF COWARDICE–issue two–pin-ups–STEVEN STWALLEY

MT#2-Stwalley

Hey all.  Here we are at the fourth and final guest pin-up for MANLY TALES OF COWARDICE #2, and this one is by STEVEN STWALLEY (www.stwallskull.com).

Steve is a fabulous cartoonist, comic historian, and master of linking the world of internet comics together. Best of all, Steve is the founder(aka Grand Poobah) of the INTERNATIONAL CARTOONIST CONSPIRACY–perhaps the greatest organization in human history (www.cartoonistconspiracy.com –start a cell in your town today).  And lemme tell ya, nobody looks fancier in a fez then Steve(http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_GcgtbJTxs-s/SMidi3_flNI/AAAAAAAAB7U/tGLJGvjiwus/s400/fallcon2007_00-1.jpg).

In addition to the Conspiracy, Steve is the mastermind behind such projects as the WEIRD ILLUSTRATED anthology, the LUTEFISK SUSHI mini-comic box-set/art show series (www.cartoonistconspiracy.com/funny), and the upcoming(this AUGUST!) utterly genius project/art show BIG FUNNY (http://www.cartoonistconspiracy.com/bigfunny/).

Steve is also the writer of a comic I just finished drawing called PHENOMENAL TANGENTS, which is a loving tribute to the kinds of comics Jack Kirby did during the 70’s(NEW GODS, DEVIL DINOSAUR, etc). While my art may not match Kirbys(and I wouldn’t dare try), Steve’s writing/tone/dialogue freaking NAILED it. PHENOMENAL TANGETS will be posted here (or elsewhere) very soon.

AND…Steve is an utter sweetie… But don’t you DARE cross him, or he’ll CUT’CHA!

   Thanks Steve!

    Me too, buddy…me too.

And am I ever glad to be done with it(printing aside). I was FINALLY able to start pencilling MANLY TALES #6 this weekend since I didn’t have PHENOMENAL TANGENTS or anything else holding me back. I actually wrote(and re-wrote) the script for #6 over a year ago, and it(as well as #7) have just been patiently waiting in drawer for me. And not to toot my own horn, but issue 6 is hilarious. I had forgotten most of it, so going over it again was like when I get a script from Brian Bastian–something fresh and funny that gets me exited to draw.
    *TOOT!*
